Narada Falls - by cc Wednesday, August 18, 2010
No portrait for cc We parked near Cougar Rock Campground and hiked up to Paradise, past Carter Falls, Narada Falls, and another falls just above Narada that was my favorite. Most of the hike was in the woods, good on a warm day. Near the top we had nice views of the Mountain and the Tatoosh range. The last part of the trail was pretty steep. Good hike.

Other - by smitchell112 Monday, August 16, 2010
No portrait for smitchell112 4day Pack trip up to Marmot Lake with day Hikes to Lake Clarice and Jade Lake and No Name Lake. Jade lake is absolutely amazing- the blue color of the lake is more vibrant than the sky- pretty cool. Marmot Lake was kinda like a lot of other lakes in the Cascades but it was great for solitude. Also good view of the night sky. Initially hiked 9miles into Marmot Lake, 2 to Lake Clarice and back to Marmot, and 3 up to Jade Lake and back to Marmot. Trail into Jade is mostly a carrion trail and is not really a very clear rout, but its not that hard to follow the rock slide area up towards the lake.

Thunder Creek - by dreamlessleep Saturday, August 14, 2010
Portrait for dreamlessleep With heat over 90 degrees, this hike through the old growth canopy along Thunder Creek was just what we were looking for. We planned it as an overnight, our destination for the evening Tricouni camp. Due to a late start out of Seattle, we didn't hit the trail until nearly 1pm. We took our time, stopping for photo ops (of which there are plenty) and a lunch stop just before McAllister Horse Camp, right on the roaring, glacial-fed aquamarine waters of the creek. When we reached Tricouni camp at around 3:30pm, we were pleasantly surprised to find we were the first to arrive, with our choice of two campsites. After a trip down to the creek to dip our hot, tired feet and pour water over ...

Rattlesnake Mountain - by Ndcole Saturday, August 14, 2010
No portrait for Ndcole Only hiked Rattlesnake Ledge. It was a great high with many people, but we got there early enough that the crowds didn't slow us down. Also great spot to have picnics afterwards at the lake and to possibly take a swim, especially today since it was 90+ degrees!

Park Butte - by tnymeyer31 Saturday, August 14, 2010
No portrait for tnymeyer31 My wife and I got there around 9:15 and there was plenty of parking available. The lot was packed when we got done, but as long as you get there somewhat early you shouldn't have a problem. The trail starts off really easy for the first mile or so. The only tricky part is a creek crossing that had a foot bridge placed over it when we got there, but I've heard that it is only there during the Summer. There aren't a lot of switch backs as you climb, especially for a good view hike. Make sure you pay attention the the signs and stay on the right trail as there are a few forks with other routes. We checked out a few of them to add a little distance to the hike. There are great...

Pinnacle Saddle - by cc Wednesday, August 11, 2010
No portrait for cc I'd been avoiding this hike for years because it looks so steep from the road, but it was great! First half through the woods, the rest out in the open, steep but no worse than other trails on the mountain. Poles were really helpful because of all the rocks on the trail. Saw some pikas and ground squirrels, and a ranger we met at the top had seen baby marmots earlier in the day. The views of the mountain are fabulous, then when you get to the end of the trail you can see the mountains to the south. Took an hour to get to the end of the maintained trail we then turned left and went about another half mile, scambling up rocks to get even higher. Beautiful!

Siouxon - by blossom Wednesday, August 11, 2010
No portrait for blossom Sioxon valley to Sioxon peak. We had planed an 18 mile trek over Sioxon Peak. A stones throw away from the peak we had to turn back due to an impassible landslide. I do not recommend anyone trying to cross the landslide. It is very steep and still has rocks falling. We tried to find a way around but it is on a pretty steep ridge and I am not much of a climber. If anyone would like to try for Sioxon peak they should take the wildcat creek trail instead of trail 301A. Well worth it for the three mountain view.
