No portrait for smitchell112 Tuck and Robin Lakes- Overnight backpack trip- great trip, absolutely beautiful and amazing! really is worth the long long uphill hike to the lakes- the trail starts out flat for about three miles then goes to moderate uphill for a little bit, after that the trail flattens for a bit. Then you come to Tuck and Robin turnoff- this trail starts nice and flat but then quickly goes up and up and up until you get to Tuck Lake, after that you go up and up and more up up to Robin Lakes-which are absolutely beautiful and have lots of mountain goats- but it is a difficult hike. Total it is almost exactly 4000 feet of elevation gain in about 7.5miles. Beautiful views, nice granite-ey area up at robin w...

Lake Dorthy - by arusho Saturday, August 21, 2010
Portrait for arusho I went to lake Dorthy and then to Bear Lake. The trail up to Lake Dorthy was good, and the trail to Bear Lake was also good, but a lot harder and it took about 45 minutes to reach the lake from Bear Lake. On the way down from Lake Dorthy, I decided to count as many stairs as I could, and I came up with 555!! Thats a lot of stairs! Overkill, really, some places were not even needed. So if you don't like stairs, don't go here!

Thomas Lake - by blossom Saturday, August 21, 2010
No portrait for blossom Thomas Lake and lake loop. 17 miles total. My feet do hurt a bit today. It was a very good hike. The lakes were beautiful, but still a lot of mosquito's around. This is a highly recommended hike especially for overnighters. We did the whole stretch in just over 8 hours comfortably.

Narada Falls - by freespirit444 Saturday, August 21, 2010
Portrait for freespirit444 Started from Narada Falls parking area and traveled downhill 2.8 miles passing Metzler (?) and Carter Falls. We ended up at the huge river you pass by while traveling to the trail head. It was cool. LOTS of people at Narada but once you pass that area there seems to be just a light crowd. I enjoyed the workout going back UP to the falls. I loved the tranquility of the river. WANT to do the Wonderland Trail all the way around the mountain some day. :-D

Portrait for freespirit444 B.P.A. Trail in Federal Way. LOTS of side trails to explore off of the 3.7 mile (one way) paved trail.

Some ups. Some downs. But nothing painfull. Not that I have encountered yet. But today was my first day :-).

I think I enjoyed the side trails and the little short cuts more then just walking a paved trail. But once encountering a mountain peak, who wouldn't. hehehehehehehehhehe Just wanted to share this little bit of in city hiking.

Rachel Lake - by greensun Thursday, August 19, 2010
No portrait for greensun Thursday was a great day to head up to Rachel Lake as when we came down on Saturday it was quite busy. This was the first time we hiked this trail and weren't sure how ling it would take us, we left the parking lot at 5:30 and didn't allow ourselves a break until we reached the top (we were concerned it might get dark on us). Next time we will plan to take breaks! We were about at our end when we finally reached the top at 8pm. The last hour was quite steep! The lake is BEAUTIFUL! My husband was ecstatic when he cought some fish at the end of the lake. It was very windy but sunny while we were there. Such a beautiful hike with many waterfalls and stopping places on the way. No portrait for smitchell112 Day hike based from Marmot lake into Jade and No Name lakes. Jade is awesome. It is absolutely beautiful and its blue color is completely unbelievable. Its about 3 miles round trip from Marmot to Jade Lake. Jade is spectacular well worth the steep uphill up the boulder field.
