Taylor River - by griffin284 Saturday, May 01, 2010
No portrait for griffin284 I hiked in to Otter Falls with my two Great Danes. I'm kicking myself now for not going the extra 0.25 miles to Big Creek. I couldn't remember how much further it was and I was running a little late.
The forest road to the trail head is only in fair condition with lots of large pot holes. There was sufficient parking at the trail head and we only saw a few people on the trail. The trail itself is in pretty good shape but a bit wet. Waterproof boots are definitely a plus right now. There were a few places where a creek crossed the trail but decided the trail looked like a better creek bed than the real thing. The creek then flowed down the middle of the trail for a couple hund...

Rattlesnake Mountain - by griffin284 Sunday, April 25, 2010
No portrait for griffin284 I was hiking with my two Great Danes. It was a good hike. There were quite a few people and not much parking available. But the trail was a great first hike of the year for us.

Marymere Falls - by jldorland Sunday, April 25, 2010
No portrait for jldorland This is the first hike we have taken since moving to this area. We have lived in Colorado for a few years and that is when we got the hiking bug. This was a very nice trail. It is well maintained and has beatiful viewing opportunities. We saw dear on the trail. They did not shy away from visitors. I would recommend this hike to anyone. The stairs leading up to the falls can be a little steep in places though.

Middle Fork Snoqualmie River - by mrdealio Saturday, April 24, 2010
Portrait for mrdealio Great hike! I did not go very far do to time.. I hiked about four miles in and enjoyed every step! Lots of moss covered trees w/ little eco systems living in every branch. Some cool wash outs that have been cleaned up very well and look as if they are still working on them. The trail was a bit muddy and slick at spots. The road out is very rough and I don't think you should drive you honda out there. If you do drive a little car out there be sure to pull over for the big rigs. Good hike for kids or folks who just don't like hills.

Mailbox Peak - by kstobie Sunday, April 18, 2010
Portrait for kstobie Snow on the top still making it quite muddy in spots, but no need for crampons, etc. You have choice of boulder field or snow field near the top. Gorgeous vistas.

part of the Acient lakes by George, Wa
Nice dry hike. 6mi rt almost flat desert. A few fish in the lake. Selective gear rules. 70 at daytime 45 at night. Lotsa stars. Cresent moon w/darkside. Only rattlersnakes by rock . Rocks are everywhere. Still slow and don't want to be bothered. Lots of boy scouts and belly boaters. Lake is 2 feet lower than last year at this time. Bring bug spray for legs. Didn't see them but got everyone. Must be different because the bumps lasted for days.

No portrait for hyperglide John Wayne Trail North Bend
A good hike for a sunny warmer day. The kids did great and it's a mild walk more than it is a hike. Hummingbirds were abundant and saw one chipmonk crossing the trail.
A few things of note kind of cool to view the old railroad ties stacked along side the trail with heavy moss on them.
Would still prefer more visibilty of the nearby mountains. There were only a couple of lookout viewpoints.
A causual mountain bike ride would be ideal for this trail.
