Was a great hike! Trail was in good condition with a few muddy parts and streams over trail or along trail. No snow on trail and were able to walk around the lake. FYI dogs are allowed.

Great weather today! Lot's of people. Beautiful views. The trail was a little muddy and the creek ran down the middle of the trail a few times. But over all a great hike!

Second time in a week. I really enjoy this trail, and the weather was perfect this time. I took my parents and 2 older kids this time, and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Noah and I will be back in another 2 weeks to camp for a night too. Mt Baring is even more impressive in the sunlight, and with the sun setting to the NW, eveing was a wonderful time to be up here, enjoying the reflection of the sun on the water. I never get tired of the uniquw beauty of the Pacific NW, the combination of Alpine ecologys in rainforest conditions. We are truly blessed in this area.

Read about this hike in a book and thought we'd give it a try. We like a hike with a destination and we figured the lookout would be our destination. After hiking all over in search of the lookout we realized we had seen it - it was just not marked and very anticlimactic. The view was OK though we couldn't see the mountain and we were looking through trees, but the hike overall was a bit of a letdown. Next time we visit Cougar Mountain we'll choose another trail. Also there are so many trails you could get lost easily - so be sure to grab a map and take note of the trail labeling - not the names (W9, etc).

Not the best weather, but who wants to wait for that? This is a perfect hike with young kids. We brought our 4yr old and 6 month old boys, and they did great. Even Cam (4yr) did great inspite of having to be woken up when we hit the trailhead. The trail was in good condition for the weather, with only a few muddy spots that were easily managed, especially for 4 yr olds who prefer mud to trek thru. The lake is beautiful, and Baring Mt to the south of the lake is a powerful, awe inspiring peak. The lake is clean and picturesque, and we are looking forward to some backpack camping up there when the weather gets a little better.

The trail was generally 'damp' due to a lot of recent rains, but this made the many small to medium waterfalls along the first couple of miles very scenic and photo worthy. It was a fairly easy hike up until about .5 mile past the Mt. Si intersect train when we encountered the first snow. The trail was pretty much covered in snow from this point to the summit. The last mile was a bit of a hard slog, and the last 300 meters to the summit a bit of thigh burner, with the snow quite deep in some places. Unfortunately once we hit the summit, the clouds had really rolled in and there was little to no view to speak of. The hike down was quite a bit easier (as usual) although the snow did sl...

Harry's peak. Way above his balcony. I liked this hike despite some opinions that it is a 'old Road'. It is not a cushy sneaker wearing trail. Quite a bit of water and we had snow the last .75 miles or so. Poor weather kept all others away. Not another hiker beyond the first half mile. Rain, cold, windy, snow, sleet, cloudy. What a great way to spend the Saturday before Memorial day.

Did this for a little bit after the CCC trail across the road. River was high and so was that enormous rock formation we saw as we were hiking. Just a short walk through before turning around. So beautiful!

Glacier Lake

The road is washed out about 1/4 mile short of the trailhead. That's not too bad, it just adds an additional 1/4 mile to the walk. However, there is little parking and no turn around at the washout. The trail is gone about halfway to the lake from a series of mud slides that carried a lot of large fir trees across the path. I was able to find a way around the first slide by going higher on the hill. I did lose the trail after the second slide. It would be easy enough to find the lake from that point by staying close to the stream but I didn't have the time for a return trip under those conditions. I would no longer consider this a day hike because of the problems with the trail. You...

Very pretty for sure and it felt GREAT to get out finally and get a hike in. Was just exploring and am sure I was on
the Upper Trailhead. It just said CCC but the fork and the stream were definitly there!!! I hope to continue this one day, we stopped because of having to cross more then 1 stream and I had my little man with me in tennis shoes. :-D Recommended for a elevated but not hard hike!!! OOOOOO and there is this really, really cool tree that I am sure was struck by lightning once that I thought was perfect to move into my backyard as a fort OR a perfect place to lay out a sleeping bag and sleep in the woods!!!
