June Lake - by Dean Wednesday, June 23, 2010
No portrait for Dean We try to hike to June Lake early each year. It is a great start to the season. This year was no eception. The waterfalls at the lake are best in the early summer. Late summer often has them nearly dry.

Mailbox Peak - by malkoc Wednesday, June 23, 2010
No portrait for malkoc It was our first time up there. Quite challenging but worth all the pain for spectacular views. Timing by the other hikers were quite right. It was a little under 2 1/2 hrs. going up and 2 hrs. coming down. It must have been one of the busiest days for this trail since we counted total of 23 hikers (including us) and 2 cute dogs by the time we were back at the parking lot around 11:15 a.m. We did scramble the rocky area going up, which I think was easier than taking the regular trail. We took the regular trail coming back down, and it was quite muddy and more difficult walking through the exposed tree roots. Unless you are trying to race against the other hikers' time that have be...

Greenwater Lakes - by dmpjporter94 Sunday, June 20, 2010
No portrait for dmpjporter94 This was our first hike of the year and also our first one in this area, most of our hikes have been in Gold Bar / Granite Falls areas. We got a late start and hit the trail at about 10:00 am, we saw two other people on the trail up to the lake and they were on the way down. The trail was muddy, (which was to be expected since it rained all day) but I thought it was well maintained. I liked that you could hear the sound of the river pretty much the entire way up the trail and the scenery was beautiful. When we got to the lake, there were a few campers but it was not too crowded. Although the clouds were very low, we could tell the surrounding views were nice.

We are planning on going bac...

Rattlesnake Mountain - by snowlover Saturday, June 19, 2010
Portrait for snowlover Love the cliffs early before crowds. Went to the towers. Sign says 4.9 miles one way I think. No viewpoints up high was disapointing, but nice hike and few people beyond the second set of ledges. Failed on both Geo-caches.

Boulder River - by dreamlessleep Thursday, June 17, 2010
Portrait for dreamlessleep A shaded trail perfect for a sunny day with plenty of water for dogs along the way. Not much elevation gain to speak of, so another early season hike to get you primed for the more strenuous trails. VERY muddy, so make sure you wear your hiking boots and bring towels to wipe them & your pooch down before getting back in the car. Some of the water crossings are a bit tricky because of the mudholes. Thankfully no bug issues as of yet. Most people stop the hike at the first set of falls about a mile in, and after that, we mostly had the trail to ourselves. There is another waterfall a bit further down the trail though, for those cataract hunters among you.

Rattlesnake Mountain - by freespirit444 Monday, June 14, 2010
Portrait for freespirit444 Went up to the ever so popular ledge then headed past to East Peak! Was quite a good workout to both destinations and quite the awesome view!!! You can go even further if you want reaching Snoqualmie Peak but we opted to turn back at East. Little man (7) and I had fun!!! I am proud of him, he wanted to continue past the ledge so many times and I finally let him and although he wanted to trun around a couple of times he was soooo happy to make it to his goal!
