Beacon Rock - by AprylHikes Sunday, January 22, 2012
Portrait for AprylHikes For this hike we drove into the Beacon Rock Park and went to the first area with trails. These trails stem from old service roads. Our goal was to get to the Hardy Falls viewing area (1.2 miles). We only made it about a mile in because at that point the road gets very steep and we had tired children with us.

There were a few downed trees in the area but nothing too hard to hop over or go around. Trail was pretty easy going and partially protected by tree cover.

Beacon Rock - by AprylHikes Sunday, January 22, 2012
Portrait for AprylHikes This was our first hike ever. We wanted to test out our new packs and take our two 7 year old on a trial run. The trail had many downed trees and tons of ice and snow. I was very nervous that the kids would slip off the edge. High winds. Definitely should have checked the weather!

It was a beautiful hike and we all did well with it.

Little Si - by greensun Saturday, October 29, 2011
No portrait for greensun Beautiful crisp fall day. The trail was glowing with fallen yellow leaves. Aren, Daisy, and I enjoyed ourselves. Next time we want to try the boulder loop. Aren also found a great picnic spot on the way down where the ladybugs were hovering, maybe we'll bring lunch on our next trip.

Snow Lake - by TreckerTreks Sunday, October 16, 2011
Portrait for TreckerTreks I'm glad we got an early start on this hike. A few trail runners passed us along the way to the lake, but on the way back we encountered dozens of people who must have decided to sleep in a little. Even though it was quite cold outside, at around 36 degrees, the sun bursting through the clouds kept us warm enough to keep from needing additional layers. We didn't encounter any of the issues that are often reported on this hike: bugs, crowds, or dust. This is definitely a great end of season hike. The fall colors added a complexity to the scenery that you won't get to see in the middle of summer!

Bearhead Mountain - by TreckerTreks Saturday, October 08, 2011
Portrait for TreckerTreks This was my first hike since I broke my ankle in July, and it was the perfect choice! The weather was mild the whole way to the top, there were no extremely steep sections, and the path was well maintained with the exception of 6 or so downed trees that we had to climb under or over. We ran into a total of 5 people on the trail the entire day.

Once we got to the top, Mount Rainier was still hidden behind a light layer of clouds, but within 20 minutes they had all lifted for a gorgeous view of the mountain and the surrounding Cascades. This is definitely a hike that I'll keep coming back to!

Margaret Lake - by Jesse Loucks Friday, September 23, 2011
No portrait for Jesse Loucks One of the best hikes ive done this fall bar none...Ripe berries, beautiful fall foliage, scenic lookouts along the trail, minimul bugs, and ofcourse the lake itself. A good buddy of mine set out on friday morning and hit the trail early. The parking lot was empty and the only complain i really have wasnt any real trail markers, after an accidental detour we found the trail and in about 1.5 hours we reached Margaret Lake. Hopefully the pictures will speak for itself but im sure they wont do the hike justice. Hightly recommended!!!!
